Winter Honeysuckle (Standing Honeysuckle,
January Jasmine, Sweet Breath-of-Spring) White blooms, small, but very fragrant, blooms appear in January/February, followed by red fruit in the summer. Young twigs are purple, maturing to brown and the plant is deciduous, losing its leaves in the fall. A tough native variety to grow in many conditions, it is a native of China which migrated to the US in the 1800's and has become naturalized in many parts of the country.
